MetalVelvetTM suppress the internal backside reflections and scattering within the glass substrate of a phovovoltaics measurement setup

ARC degradation and abrasion of front side anti-reflective coatings may lead to long term losses in optical performance. In order to quantify these losses and benchmark various ARC before and after abrasion testing, a research team of CSP Halle / IMWS Halle / Anhalt University of Applied Science Köthen has developed a methodology for the quantitative measurement of front side ARC performance and its impact on optical transmittance from a simple reflection spectroscopy measurement. The absorber structure applied in the measurement setup (ACKTAR MetalVelvetTMfoil) has an extremely low hemispherical reflection of 1%.
